As part of TEMPO 2-D, The City of Austin Art in Public Places Program commissioned me to create a temporary mural at the Jamie Odom Gazebo on the Hike and Bike Trail. Inspiration for Reflecting Well comes from the site location, history, and namesake, in combination with my signature source material, mineral structures. The minerals represented, Celestine, Calcite, and Limestone, are found in Central Texas. Gypsum and Dolomite are also included as a nod to our growing city, since they are found in common construction materials. The color palette was derrived from the colors reflected in the buildings visible from the site and natural landscape in the area. Follow the life of this temporary mural on Facebook and Instagram at @OdomGazeboMural. The mural will be on display through August 2019.
